The insurance profession is changing. David Dumont, CEO of OIB Solutions, shared his view of this shift at Village by CA, in front of the actuaries of Crédit Agricole Assurances: making insurers, MGAs and brokers "superpowered" with the tools artificial intelligence now puts at their disposal.

What AI changed at a software company

The clearest way to understand the change coming to insurance is to look at what AI has already changed in our own organisation as a software vendor.

A developer used to read and write code, with a whole team standing between them and the client. Today, we expect them to understand the insurance business: talk to clients, design, and have the product sense to decide what to build and how. The code follows.

Teams become more autonomous, more versatile and closer to clients. Insurance roles will follow the same path, and that is the vision OIB Solutions stands for.

Modelling a product in plain language

In OIB Solutions, an insurance product is now modelled with an AI assistant, in natural language. A concrete example:

"On this product, I want to pay my introducing brokers a 20% commission, and 22% to those above €100k of annual production."

That sentence instantly becomes a business configuration in the platform, ready to test on policies. No more development cycles, no more depending on the vendor to set things up.

AI prepares, people decide

The same logic applies to day-to-day operations: AI analyses and handles the tedious work, people judge and decide.

In claims management, for example, our agents specialised by line of business analyse the notification, the supporting documents and the policy terms, then suggest a decision. The claims handler reviews and approves.
